Michael E. Pérez's Bio

Michael E. Pérez is an attorney and owner of The Pérez Law Firm, LLC, located in Atlanta, Georgia. Michael represents individuals and businesses in all types of civil litigation. His extensive experience in complex litigation includes cases with claims of stock fraud, death spiral financing, breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, restrictive covenants, civil RICO claims, and trade secrets. Michael also represents individuals in catastrophic personal injury cases, including medical malpractice, wrongful death, product liability, and premises liability.

Michael brings his knowledge of the law, advocacy, and creative problem-solving skills together to obtain the best results for his clients regardless of the type of case. Michael’s efforts often lead to favorable settlements for his clients. Yet, when a case cannot be resolved, Michael’s extensive experience in each phase of the litigation process greatly benefits his clients. Michael has taken and defended countless depositions of parties, witnesses, and corporate representatives. He has briefed and argued numerous motions in state and federal courts, including complex, multi-party motions for summary judgment, Daubert motions, and trial motions. Michael has worked on several trial teams to secure multimillion-dollar verdicts for clients. He has also successfully briefed cases in Georgia’s appellate courts.

Michael’s extensive experience in civil litigation and in-depth knowledge of NIL rights makes him a trusted advisor for athletes seeking legal guidance. In addition to being an avid sports fan, Michael has spent many years on the pitch supporting his daughter, who recently capped off her soccer career by playing on the Georgia High School 5A 2021-2022 Champion Chamblee Bulldogs. Additionally, Michael’s youngest son plays AAU basketball and travel baseball. Michael recognizes the significance of protecting an athlete’s brand, image, and financial interests in an increasingly complex world of endorsements, sponsorships, and licensing agreements. Whether negotiating contracts, resolving disputes, or safeguarding intellectual property rights, Michael is well-equipped to advocate for athletes at every stage of their careers.

A Double Dawg, Michael received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from The University of Georgia and his law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law in 2000. He is a member of the State Bar of Georgia and is admitted to practice in the State and Superior Courts of Georgia, the Georgia Court of Appeals, Georgia Supreme Court, the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, and the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Georgia. Michael has been named a Super Lawyer for the last six years, from 2018 to 2023, received an AV Preeminent Peer Review Rating from Martindale Hubbell and is a Board-Certified Civil Practice Advocate, having passed a written exam administered by the National Board of Trial Advocacy.

In addition to Michael’s legal work, he is a member of several professional and civic organizations. He is Vice President of the DeKalb County Bar Association and a member of the State Bar of Georgia’s Professionalism Committee. He serves as a Board Member of the University of Georgia’s Latino Alumni Council and a former board member of the Brighter DeKalb Foundation, an organization supporting the needs of individuals with mental illness, addiction, and developmental disabilities. He is also an active member of the Georgia Hispanic Bar Association, the Lawyers Club of Atlanta, the American Association for Justice, and

the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association.
